January 3, 1934 ~ August 17, 2014
With her family by her side, Wilma “Fern” Rudd Mann went home peacefully to be with her Lord and savior on August 17th, 2014. Fern left a legacy and a strong foundation of faith for all who knew and loved her.
Fern was born to Twyman and Lillian Rudd in Post Oak, Missouri on January 3, 1934. Her family moved to Del Norte, Colorado where Fern graduated from Del Norte High School in 1951. Fern was very active in many clubs during her high school years and was an outstanding cheerleader for the “Tigers”.
She married her high school sweetheart Raymond Mann on May 14, 1954. She and Ray moved to Sargent, Colorado and during their time there, they were blessed with a daughter Robin and a son Kevin. Robin (David) Hebbel blessed them with two grandsons: Jacob & Benjamin. The Hebbel’s now live in Montrose, Colorado. Kevin (Gayle) live in Colquitt, Georgia.
Fern graduated from Adam State College in 1966. She taught in the Monte Vista School system from 1969-1972. In 1972 the Mann family moved to Kremmling, Colorado. With two active teenagers, Fern devoted her time to being a full time mother and housewife. After her husband’s retirement, they lived for a brief period of time in Eaton, Colorado. From there, they moved to a small ranch north of Del Norte. As Fern’s health began to fail, they moved and purchased a home in Montrose, Colorado so that they could be near their daughter, Robin.
Fern is survived by her children and grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.
Preceding Fern in death were her husband, Raymond Leroy Mann, her mother Lillian Cora Rudd, her father Twyman Forrest Rudd, her brothers Orville Rudd and Leroy Rudd, and her sister Vernita Morrison. She will be missed by everyone who loved her. Fern’s memory will live on through the beautiful prose and poetry she wrote. Now whole, we can rest assured knowing that Fern is rejoicing seeing her Savoir face to face.
There will be a graveside service on Saturday, August 23rd, 2014 at 2:00pm at the Del Norte Cemetery. A reception will be held afterward at New Life Fellowship Church at 520 7th Street in Del Norte. The family has requested in lieu of flowers, a donation be made in Fern’s name to Hope West & Hospice, P.O. Box 1804, Montrose, CO 81401.
