William Howard Douglas

January 8, 1940 – July 17, 2014

Bill was born January 8, 1940, in Cleveland, Ohio but at an early age he moved with his family to Galveston, TX where his family made their permanent home.  He is preceded in death by his sister, Evelyn Creel, his mother, Eleanor Gomez, and his first wife Annie.  He is survived by his wife Patricia Douglas, son, William Douglas, Jr.; daughter Debbie Drouillard, stepdaughters; Cindy Bell, Carol Jell, Diane Thirkell and stepson, John Thirkell, brother, John Douglas, sisters; Mary Lou Moore, Carmen Morici, and Josie Skinner.

Bill received a degree in accounting from Durham Business College but it wasn’t long before computers became his principal interest earning his degree from the Univ of TX.  He worked 10 years as a Senior Systems Analyst for Baylor College of Medicine with Dr. DeBakey and his proudest accomplishment is his designing and engineering a program called Blood Testing and Quality Assurance System used even today by laboratories in the U.S. and Europe.  Somewhere Bill found time to attend the Texas College of Theology while working full time.  In 1982 Bill moved to Phoenix, AZ where he worked for American Express also as a Senior Software Analysis and after 14 years retired.   It only took two weeks after retiring to move to Montrose, CO where he could enjoy hiking and biking and more hiking and fun with family.

Dancing was also an activity he enjoyed.  He took part in college shows, NFL half time – yes he was on TV – and even danced on stage at the les Folies Bergere in Paris, France.  Bill loved to cook and often invited guests to test one of his recipes.  He voluntarily made Christian tapes and CD’s for friends, shut-ins and distributed them to nursing homes and those he felt needed Christian fellowship.

Bill never did have to give much thought to his way of life.  “Always trust the Lord for He is faithful.”

Funeral Services in loving memory of Bill are scheduled for Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at 10:30 am at The Victory Baptist Church, 2890 N Townsend. Burial will be at Cedar Cemetery, east of Montrose. Arrangements are under the direction and care of Crippin Funeral Home, 802 E. Main St., Montrose, Co 81401. (970) 249-2121
