Wesley S. Robinson, age 74, of Montrose, passed away March 26, 2013 at the Montrose Memorial Hospital. Wesley was born February 13, 1939 to Burl Wesley and Ione Hetty (Slyter) Robinson at Blanca, Colorado. He spent his childhood and received his education in the San Luis Valley, graduating from Montrose High School in 1957. Wesley had accepted a job offer with Colorado Department of Transportation, but then joined the Army and served from 1961 to 1967, and spent three years in the Intelligence Department in Heidelberg, Germany. He was honorably discharged as a Sergeant. He returned to Colorado and worked for the Colorado Department of Transportation for 15 plus years. Wesley married Pamela Jo Failor on January 9, 1966. They had two children, Robin and Wesley, but later divorced. He then married Martha Luchesse March 9, 1989, and she preceded him in death. Wesley was a lifelong member and Past Exalted Ruler of the Elk’s Lodge. He was employed with the Colorado Department of Transportation for 15 plus years. Wesley was a Real Estate broker for many years, then worked for the Water conservation District in Gunnison for a few years, and was employed at Blue Mesa for the National Park Service in Gunnison County. He then retired and relocated to Montrose, where he made his home until his time of death. Wesley was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting and fishing.
Survivors are children, Robin Renee (Keith) Robinson Owen of Bullfrog, Utah; Wesley Stewart Robinson of Gunnison, Colorado; two sisters Donna (Keith) Catlin of Montrose, Colorado, Wilma (Harry) Charos of Fruita, Colorado; one brother A. Curtis (Rose) Robinson of Montrose, Colorado; one grandchild Lindsey Michelle Owen, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Wesley was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Mary Lee Robinson Smith and wife Martha.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at 11:30 am at Crippin Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Paul Nystrom officiating. Graveside Services with Military Honors will follow the service at Grand View Cemetery, West of Montrose. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the B.P.O.E. Youth Scholarship Fund, c/o The Montrose Elk’s Lodge #1053, 801 S. Hillcrest, Montrose, Co. 81401. Arrangements are under the direction of Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory, Montrose, Co.
