Wendell “Buzz” Gordon Phillips, age 84 of Montrose, Colorado, passed away July 11, 2016.

Funeral Service will be held Saturday, July 16, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Crippin Funeral Home 802 East Main

Street, Montrose, Colorado.

Wendell was born July 28, 1931 in Monte Vista, Colorado. He graduated from Monte Vista High School.

He spent most of his early years ranching and working around the San Luis Valley. Wendell married

Patricia Phares on January 20, 1973; they were married 43 wonderful years. Wendell moved his family

to Buena Vista, Colorado in 1978 where he worked as a correctional officer for 23 years. After

retirement they settled in Montrose, Colorado. Wendell was an avid gardener. He enjoyed raising

animals and spent most of his life working with horses. Wendell loved spending time with his family,

especially his grandchildren.

Wendell is survived by his wife Pat; his brother Wayne (Alice) Phillips; Son’s Nate Phillips, Kevin

Phillips, Cannon (Sonia) Phillips, T.J. (Jennifer) Phillips; his daughter Wende (Nexus) Phillips-Avelar; five

grandchildren, Llarion, Loren, Samantha, Sophia, Emily; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are under the care of Crippin Funeral Home and Crematory.
