Wanda Haney Seglund

Wanda Haney Seglund was born Oct. 5, 1928 in Dublin, TX and departed Jan.8, 2014.  She grew up in Longview, TX and graduated from Northern Arizona University, Flagstaff, AZ in 1975.  She was a mother, teacher, writer, and lover of history and politics.  Wanda was a gypsy at heart; her travels took her many places, near and far.  She wrote a memoir of her research and journey with her developmentally disabled daughter Cissy which was published in 2013 (“Cissy, Born Too Soon” friesenpress.com).  She is survived by her four daughters Patty, Cissy, Julia, and Amy and two sons John and Paul along with grandchildren and great grandchildren.  We will miss Wanda’s wisdom, humor, independence, and strong spirit.  She was an inspiration.  In lieu of flowers and cards, donations in her honor can be made to Beverly Farm (www.beverlyfarm.org) where her beloved Cissy now resides.  At Wanda’s request, cremation has taken place and private family services will be held at a later date.  Arrangements are under the care of Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory, Montrose, Colorado
