Wallace "Wally" E. Sheats

Wallace E. Sheats (Wally) passed away at the age of 92 on February 20, 2025, at Colorow Care Center. His love, Karen Erickson, was by his side. Wally was many things to many people. He was a successful businessman and an avid street rod enthusiast; but he was also a fun-loving jokester, master pot stirrer, stubborn as a mule, an ornery ole GOAT, the rock of our lives, and now our guardian angel — Papa Wally!!

Wally was born the eldest son of Benjamin L. Sheats and Pauline E. Barnett on June 27, 1932, in Dawson Springs, Kentucky. He was the eldest of five and the last living of his siblings.

He is survived by his five children: Wallace E. Sheats Jr. and his wife Gerry Sheats, L. Diane Hurst and her husband Charles Hurst, Cynthia June, Brenda Cirbo and Christie Emerson; his seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. 

Wally is also survived by his second family: his partner in love, Karen Erickson; her daughter Lisa Suppes and her husband Jim Suppes, two grandchildren and four great grandchildren. 

Wally was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Gloris Sheats, his parents and his siblings. 

There will be a visitation for family and friends on Thursday, February 27, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. ~ 7:00 pm at Crippin Funeral Home Chapel and a private family graveside service the next day.
