Virginia Marie Smith
Virginia Marie Smith of Montrose passed away suddenly on October 24th, 2018 at 67 years old. Her love and compassion will be deeply missed.
Virginia was born May 24th, 1951 to Jack and Margie Brown in Montrose, Colorado. Virginia loved life in Southwest Colorado. As a girl, she would spend summers helping her mother run a small store in Ouray and looking for adventure with her sisters and brother. She fearlessly raced stock cars with a lead foot. She attended school in Montrose where she met and fell in love with Donald E. Smith. The two were married January 27, 1968 and four children soon followed.
Virginia loved yard sales, auctions, country drives, and Starbucks. Most of all Virginia loved God and her family. She loved visiting and chatting with family and friends. Her family will treasure the many nights spent around the table playing board games. She loved her grandchildren deeply and made sure they always felt loved and important. A holiday never went by where she didn’t send a care package full of goodies for her grandkids. Virginia could almost always be seen with a camera in hand to document all the big and small moments of life. She was a memory keeper who cherished the things that reminded her of family. Don and Virginia are members of Rosemont Baptist Church. Virginia was a firm believer that with God, anything is possible. Her favorite bible verse was John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
Virginia Marie Smith was preceded in death by her father Jack Brown and mother Margie Marie Brown(Castle). She is survived by her husband Donald E. Smith and siblings Carrie Dixson(Ronald), Jerrie Frazier and James Brown. She also leaves her four children Michael (Angelia), Joseph, Matthew(Julie), Jaclyn(Zachary) and six grandchildren Haven, Brennan, Madaline, Bethany, Hudson, and Genevieve.
A memorial service to honor and celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, November 3rd, 2018 at Rosemont Baptist Church.
