Virginia (Gini) L. H. Ingalsbe

February 10, 1916 — February 28, 2013

Virginia (Gini) L. Hazen Ingalsbe passed away at her home in Montrose, Colorado on February 28, 2013.  She was 97.

Gini’s life revolved around her family.  She met the love of her life the day before her 18th birthday and deeply loved and was proud of George, her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She was very interested in all that they did and built strong relationships with each of them in spite of the geographical distances that separated them over most of her life.  On more than one occasion she said that she was a “deprived Grandma and Great Grandma” because of the distances.

Gini was born on February 10, 1916 and raised in Yakima, Washington.  She attended what is now Central Washington University in Ellensburg, Washington.   In 1938 she married George W. Ingalsbe Jr., also of the Yakima area, and they were married for over 70 years until his death in 2009.  While married they lived in Kelso, Seattle and Richland Washington, Astoria, Oregon, Grand Junction, Colorado and Bethesda, Maryland.  While in Bethesda, Gini worked for the Hecht Company Department Store near their home.  After retirement in 1975, they returned to Yakima, Washington and in 2005 to Grand Junction, Colorado.  Since 2009 Gini has made her home in Sunrise Creek Assisted Living in Montrose.  While there she thrived with the love and care of the wonderful staff and residents.

While living in Grand Junction, Gini volunteered at St. Mary’s Hospital for many years.  She belonged to the Altar and Rosary Society and was very involved in several ministries at their Catholic Parishes.  Playing golf, working in her yard and traveling were other passions that enriched her life.

Gini is survived by her son Duane Ingalsbe with wife Kathy of Springfield, VA; her daughter Denise Ludwig with husband Jack of Ridgway, CO; Grandsons: Michael Ingalsbe with wife Karen of Woodbridge, VA; Mark Ludwig with wife Deanna of Highlands Ranch, CO; Drew Ludwig of Telluride, CO; Granddaughter Laura Allen with husband Michael of Superior, CO; and Great Grandchildren; Drake and Bailey Ludwig; Nicholas and Garret Allen and Connor Ingalsbe.

Each and every member of her family and her many friends will miss her love and affection, her energy, her delight in playful teasing, and her sense of humor.  Time spent with her always led to laughter, hilarity and surprises.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday March 9th, at 10:30 am at St. Daniels Catholic Church, Ouray, CO.  Visitation will be from 12:00 pm until 5 pm on Friday, March 8th at Crippin Funeral Home Chapel in Montrose.  Rite of Committal will take place on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.  at Grand View Cemetery, west of Montrose.

Condolences may also be sent to the family at www.crippinfuneralhome.com. Those who wish, may remember her with a donation to Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Colorado, P.O. Box 1804, Montrose, Co. 81402  or to the Alzheimer’s Disease Research Foundation, Colorado Chapter, 4104 Outlook Blvd., Bldg. B, Pueblo, Co. 81008.  Arrangements are under the direction of Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory, Montrose, Co
