Thomas James McNerney passed away peacefully Thursday October 03,2024 at the age of 74. He was surrounded by his loving family and friends in his final moments. He was a man of immense humor and wisdom, cherishing every moment spent with his loved ones.
Tom was born on February 12, 1950, in Toledo Ohio. He graduated St. Francis de Sales High School and entered the military shortly after. During his time in the Army, he relocated to Colorado where he met the love of his life. On January 3, 1975, he married Nancy and soon after he received a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Metropolitan State College.
Tom had a love for skiing and shared that love by becoming an instructor for handicapped skiers with the National Sports Center for the Disabled (NSCD). He also had a passion for tennis and played competitively for years until he discovered running which became his new obsession. Tom loved running so much he would train in any weather and would soon be entering marathons, even talking his granddaughter into joining him! Tom coached 6 years of soccer for his son and never missed a game or performance for any of his children or grandchildren. Tom’s greatest loves in this world besides his family were music, golf, traveling and of course The Ohio State Buckeyes.
Tom is preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Phyllis McNerney and his younger brother Kevin McNerney. He is survived by his devoted wife Nancy Ann and his children Michelle and Timothy (Shandra). Tom is a grandfather to 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He is also survived by 6 siblings and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
