Thomas Charles Watson , age 86 passed away peacefully at his home in Montrose, Co. on December 9, 2014.. He was born on Sept. 30, 1928 in Kansas City, Mo.  to Edward Thomas  and Elsie Watson.  His childhood was spent on his uncle’s farm in Purdin, MO.  He moved his family to Kittridge, CO and later to Morrison, CO where he was employed at Gates Rubber Co..  During this time, he worked on the Morrison Fire Dept and was town marshall serving with the Jefferson County Sheriffs Dept..  He also constructed several houses in that area all while working at Gates.

In 1962 he purchased a ranch in Routt County and ranched until moving to Weld County where he purchased several farms and feed lots. Tom later moved to Lewellyn, NE and operated a co-op store.  After several years  he moved to Lake Roosevelt, AZ to pursue his love of fishing.  In 1989, he settled in the Gunnison/ Montrose area where he remained until his death.

Tom was an avid hunter, fisherman, pilot and business man . He was a lifelong member of NRA.  He was happiest when in his beloved mountain home surrounded by loved ones.

He is preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Norma Neill, Doris Atteberry and Joye Fisher. Surviving is grandson, Joseph DeLisle of the home,  two sons, Jerry {Rita) Watson, Fruita, CO, Tom Watson, Jr, Lamoni, IA and one daughter, Melinda Watson, Olathe, Co, nine grandchildren, great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Also surviving is his sister, Betty Hayes, Montrose, CO and brother, Gale Watson, Indep. MO.

Tom will be greatly missed by his family and friends.  Cremation has taken place with a Memorial Service planned for a later date.  Arrangements are under the care of Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory, Montrose, Colorado
