Susan Kay Brown Mazzitelli was born to August Anthony Mazzitelli and Willow-Belle Frances Brown Mazzitelli on February 9, 1949 in San Angelo, Texas. In 1955 the family name was legally changed to Mason. Susan was the youngest of three siblings, Robert Joseph Mazzitelli Mason, the oldest; Bettina Trueman Mazzitelli Mason Barron, second, then Susan.
Susan was preceded in death by her parents August and Willow-Belle Mason; Maternal Grandparents, Robert Frances and Willow Lovelace Brown of Wall,Texas; Paternal Grandparents Andrew Joseph and Benedetta Mazzitelli of Chicago, Illinois; and one nephew, Anthony Brown (Tony) Mason.
Susan is survived by her husband, William H. Kruger of Phoenix; Brother, Robert (Bobbie) Mason of Red Oak, Texas; Sister, Bettina (Don) Barron of San Angelo, Texas.
Roberts Children are Randall Joseph (Natalie) Mason of Henderson, Nevada (Children Alexa and Savannah), Tony Mason, Deceased, Claudia Mason of Waxahachie, Texas (Children Racheal, Zachery, and Malachi), Derek (Jill) Mason of Round Rock, Texas (Children Lisa and Lyla). She is also survived by two Brothers-in-law, Joe and Don Kruger; sister-in-law, Betty (Kruger) Lacefield and many cousins.
Susan had many years of epilepsy since a head injury after falling off a donkey when 11 years old. She graduated from Angelo State University, San Angelo, TX in 1971 with an Accounting Degree (BBA). She met and married William (Bill) Kruger of Phoenix, Arizona on June 24, 1974. They married in her lifelong Church Emmanuel Episcopal Church of San Angelo, Texas. They lived together in Phoenix, AZ from their wedding up until 2 years ago and was a member there of the Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church.
For the past two years she has lived with her sister-in-law, Betty (Kruger) Lacefield in beautiful Ouray, CO and attended and an associate member of the United Church of the San Juans in Ridgway, CO and enjoyed the new warmth and friendship of everyone there. She was able to travel with Betty, crossing this country three times in two years meeting many new friends and members of the Kruger side of the family.
The celebration of her life will be Sunday April 26, 2014. A luncheon will be served beginning at 11:30 a.m. after the regular church services with Blue Grass Band, Rock Creek and purple balloons (her favorite color) will be released in Hartwell Park to end her memorial. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the Endowment Fund at UCSJ, POB 774, Ridgway, CO; The Salvation Army, or charity of your choice. Arrangements are under the care of Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory, Montrose, Co.
