Susan V. Gunter, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2025, in Aurora, Colorado, at the age of 73. Born on February 17, 1952, in San Jose, California, Susan was the cherished daughter of Herman F. DeSomber Sr. and Mildred Veronica Scott.
A long-time resident of Montrose, Colorado, Susan was an active member of the United Methodist Church, where she found community and connection. She was known for her vibrant spirit and infectious laughter, lighting up every room she entered. A true joy to be around, she was the life of the party, always ready to celebrate with family and friends.
Susan had a passion for the outdoors and cherished her time fishing and camping. She delighted in gathering with loved ones, often sharing her love for singing and watching Hallmark movies. Her warmth and kindness extended far beyond her immediate family, as she lovingly embraced many as her own grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her parents and her beloved daughter Kimberly. Susan is survived by her former husband, Ken Gunter; her brothers, Herman DeSomber of Idaho and Earl DeSomber of California; her sister, Mary Kirk of Longmont, Colorado; her three grandchildren, Richard, Darci, and Leighandra; and her seven adored great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy.
Susan's legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered. A celebration of her life will be announced at a later date, where family and friends are invited to gather in her honor. Arrangements are in the care of Crippin Funeral Home, Montrose, Colorado.
