Steven Ray Frigetto

October 30, 1955 — August 12, 2018

Steven Ray Frigetto passed away in his home in Montrose on August 12, 2018 at the age of 62.
Steve was born on October 30th, 1955 in Montrose Colorado to Avellino “Deno” Frigetto and Ruth Frigetto (Dicamillo). He is survived by his son Brent Frigetto, brother Allen Frigetto, sister’s Jackie (Gary) Cooper and Debby (Maurie) Curtis and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother and father Deno and Ruth.
Steve was born and raised in Montrose and lived his life here until his passing. He grew up on Spring Creek where he helped with the family farm and was an active member in 4-H and FFA. Steve was very athletic and participated in various sports. He was a champion power lifter, a member of the High School football team and he also wrestled on the Varsity Heavy weight team at 180lbs. He was so talented that the coach moved him up to the higher weight class to compete and he was a proud member of the 1975 State Championship team with a record of 17-7-1. He graduated from Montrose High School in 1975.
After graduation most of his days were spent farming with his dad and spending time with his family. Farming was not only his job, but his passion. He was married to Nancy Allen in 1979 which later ended in divorce, they shared one child together Brent Frigetto. Steve was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis at the age of 25. As the disease progressed he was unable to continue what he loved doing most; farming. MS took away his ability to farm, but not his love for it. Steve would often talk and reminisce about the happiest times of his life, which were in the fields harvesting and plowing the earth with his family. Steve loved watching football and was a huge Denver Bronco’s fan and would be donned in orange and blue every gameday.
Services for Steve will be held on Friday August 17th at Montrose Christian Church located at 2352 Sunnyside, Montrose at 10am. The family asks that you wear your favorite Denver Bronco attire to the service since Steve was such a diehard Bronco Fan, this would put a big smile on his face seeing his closest family and friends dressed in orange and blue. A graveside service will immediately follow at Grand View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers we ask that donations be made in Steve’s name to Hope West. The family would like to extend a special and heartfelt thank you to Debbie and Randy Hendricks and Tim Heavers for all that they have done.
