Shirley Jean Burton

Shirley Jean Burton, age 81, of Montrose, passed away April 9, 2015 at Valley Manor Care Center in Montrose.  Shirley was born January 11, 1934 to Archie and Virginia (Coon) Riggs in Cunningham, Kansas.  She married Ivan L. Burton on July 11, 1950 in Clayton, New Mexico. Shirley and Ivan have resided in Olathe area since 1963.   Ivan preceded Shirley in death in November of 2001.

Shirley collected dolls as a hobby and enjoyed spending time with family and grandchildren.

Surviving family members include her son, Randy Burton of Olathe; three daughters, Iva (Gary) Jacobs of Clifton, Colorado, Dixie (Joseph) Maupin of New Castle, Colorado and Pamela Burton of Mesa, Arizona; and one brother Archie Riggs of Peabody, Kansas; ten grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.  Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Ivan, and parents Archie and Virginia Riggs.

Private family graveside services were held at the Olathe Cemetery, in Olathe, Colorado, where she was laid to rest, next to Ivan.  Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the family
