Shirley Dian Hawkins (Smith)

December 29, 1950 — April 22, 2018

Shirley Dian (Smith) Hawkins, passed away suddenly on April 22nd at Hope West in Grand Junction CO. Shirley was born in Rapid City SD, to her parents Royal Bittner and Emma Bittner (Smith) on December 29th, 1950.
Shirley moved around a lot in her younger days, finally settling in Telluride CO. where she met her life partner Terry Hawkins. Terry and Shirley were married in Telluride on July 2nd, 1967. In 1969 her son Terry was born and then in 1972 her son Scott was born. In 1978 the family moved to Montrose, CO where Shirley lived out the rest of her life.
Shirley’s passions included traveling, reading her favorite author Danielle Steel and listening to country music. Terry and Shirley were longtime members of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association. And loved touring the United States and Canada. Shirley loved spending time with family and the many friends they met along the way. Shirley was very passionate about her friends and family and loved helping those in need. Anyone who knew Shirley loved her as she cared so deeply for all those around her. Shirley’s love and passion for life was contagious.
Shirley is survived by her Husband Terry L. Hawkins, Sons Terry J. Hawkins (Tawnya) of Montrose, CO. Scott L. Hawkins (Chantel) of Montrose, CO. Brother Dan Smith (Judy) of Box Elder, SD. Pat Smith (Debbie) of Grand Junction CO. Sisters Bonnie Anstine (Dee) of St. George UT, Vickie Banks (Don) of Granada Hills CA. Two Grandchildren Cassidy L. Hawkins of Fort Collins, CO and Jamie S. Hawkins, of Montrose, CO. and many nephews and nieces.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday May 12th, 2018 at the Montrose Elks Lodge 801 S. Hillcrest Drive, Montrose CO. 81401 starting at 2 p.m. Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory in Montrose is assisting the family.
