Shirley Dean (Annear) Cook

Shirley Dean Cook, age 78, Lifetime Montrose resident, died June 19, 2015 at her home in Montrose, Colorado. She was born February 15, 1937 to Charles and Mary (Brown) Annear in Syracuse, Kansas. Shirley’s family moved to Montrose when she was nine months old, and where they made their home until their time of death.
Shirley graduated from Montrose High School, and at the age of 19, she married the love of her life, Melvin “Clyde” Cook on July 7, 1956 in Montrose. He preceded her in death on April 8, 2015.
Shirley and Clyde were members of the Montrose Christian Church. Her family was the highlight of her life. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were very special her. Shirley was an avid reader and she loved to cook.
Surviving family members include her son, Daren (Pam) Cook of Montrose; daughter, Lisa (Cook) Boughan of Flora Vista, New Mexico; four grandchildren, Colby Dean Cook and Taylor Rae (Cook) Brown of Montrose, Blane Michael Boughan of Flora Vista, New Mexico and Shayla Rae (Boughan) Lee of Ozona, Texas; six great-grandchildren Stryker Cook, Aspen Brown, Kimber and Oakley Cook of Montrose, Tyton and Izelynn Lee of Ozona, Texas. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde of 60 years this month, one son Dean Cook, two sisters June Helmericks and Dorothy Herring, her parents Charles and Mary Annear.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to HopeWest Hospice, P.O. Box 1804, Montrose, Co. 81402. A celebration of Shirley’s life will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. at the Montrose Christian Church, with a reception to follow. The service will conclude at the Church. Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory, in Montrose, Colorado is assisting the family.
