Sherrol Ann Lichte

With profound sadness, we announce that on Wednesday, May 19, 2021, Sherrol Ann Lichte, 80, passed away peacefully at her home in Montrose, Colorado surrounded by her family. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, stepmother, grandmother, and friend.

Sherrol was born in Sturgis, South Dakota on September 18, 1940. As a life-long schoolteacher, she had a passion for her students and was energized when a pupil finally understood a concept.  She loved to travel extensively, perhaps the inspiration for her brief career as a travel agent after retiring from teaching.  She loved to cook, kept an immaculate house, was highly skilled with knitting needles and a sewing machine, and enjoyed outings to the golf course and playing bridge with friends.  In her later years, she loved making that monthly trip to Las Vegas with Fred.  Most of all, she loved her entire family and instilled in them strong values that have served them well. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband of almost 29 years, Frederick Lichte; her son, Brad Barbour; her stepchildren: Erika Norman, Nathan Lichte and Gretchen Muniz; her seven grandchildren: Kai, Ashlee and Josh Norman, Ruby and Adelaide Lichte, Zach and Alex Muniz; her two sisters: Coleen Rose and Lynne Willemssen and her brother, Gary Ellefson.

Sherrol was preceded in death by her first husband, Ed, and her youngest son, Bryce, as well as her parents, Eric and Vera Ellefson; her niece, Shelley Van Galder; her nephew, Thatcher Ellefson; and her sister-in-law, Barb Ellefson.

A small intimate gathering celebrating Sherrol’s life will be held at Crippin Funeral Home Chapel, 802 East Main, Montrose, CO 81401 on Monday, May 24, 2021 beginning at 1 p.m.  She will be buried on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at Olivet Cemetery in Cheyenne, Wyoming – final details are pending.
