Sharon A. (Kiesner) Hussong, 86, passed away gracefully on April 15, 2014, at the Montrose Memorial Hospital. Sharon was born in Detroit, Michigan and later moved to Wausau, Wisconsin. After graduation, she met a military man, the love of her life. Sergeant Cyrus C. Hussong swept Sherry off her feet and they were married in 1948. In 1968, the Hussong family moved to Montrose, Colorado, where Sharon lived out the rest of her life.
Sharon was preceded in death by her husband, U.S. Army Major Cyrus C. Hussong and her sisters Mary Klos and Nancy Goetzke. Sharon is survived by her three children; Cathy and husband Jeff Corbin of Wausau, WI, Debra and husband Benedicto Casias of Montrose, CO, and Kim and wife Gina DeVincentis, also of Montrose, CO. Grandchildren are Christopher, Benjamin, and Robert Corbin; Gabriel, Adam, Levi and Jacob Casias; Saige, Kira, Seth, and Dawson Hussong. Great Grand children are Hannah and Ava Corbin; Carmen and Courtney Casias, Brooklyn Pfannenstiel; Isaiah and Noah Casias; Makura and twins Jayden and Jokoby Casias.
Fond memories of Sharon include stories about the old days, dancing with her husband, living and travel to Germany, Georgia, Kentucky, Florida, Mexico, Las Vegas and California. Sharon was a true “army wife”, raising her children and supporting her husband through WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. She loved the ocean and was always taken aback by it. Her ashes will be scattered into the Pacific. A strong soldier, marching without her sergeant, now smiling, dancing and embracing each other, as the love once separated, is now eternal. Grandma, your love and grace will never be forgotten. May your memories, live within us forever. At Sharon’s request, no services will be held. Condolences may also be sent to the family at www.crippinfuneralhome.com. Arrangements are under the care of Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory, Montrose, Colorado.
