Seth Donald “Mac” McCoy
Seth Donald “Mac” McCoy, 90, passed away November 11, 2014. He was born November 7, 1924, to Joseph Noble McCoy and Margaret Powell in Trinidad, Colorado. A resident of Las Vegas since 1946, he was a Marine Veteran of World War II having served in the 5th Division in the Marshall, Palau and Marianas Islands. In 1950 he began working for the City of Las Vegas and became the superintendent of the nine-hole Municipal Golf Course. Shortly thereafter, he co designed and built and additional nine holes off Washington Avenue. Mac retired from the City in 1981 but continued in the landscape and golf course business at the Las Vegas National Golf Club. His contributions to the local golf scene were recognized in 2012 when he was inducted into the Las Vegas Golf Hall of Fame. He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Margaret; stepfather Angelo Pedot and brother William McCoy. He is survived by; his wife of nearly 70 years, Madalene; his daughter Donna Drake (Tom); his sons Steven McCoy (Cynthia) and Robert McCoy (Teri). He is also survived by four grandchildren: Steven McCoy, Matthew McCoy, Kevin McCoy and April McCoy Pigott, Their spouses and 11 great grandchildren. There will be a Memorial Service at noon on Tuesday, November 18, at the Chapel at The Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Buchanan Blvd., Boulder City, Nevada (702) 486-5920). Interment will follow immediately at Veterans Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory, Montrose, Colorado
