Ruth was born on July 5, 1928, in Wayne County, Missouri to Noah C. Sturgeon and Katie (Dinkins) Sturgeon. Shortly after the moved to Colorado with her two older siblings and settled in the Olathe area.

She graduated high school in Olathe, Colorado. After meeting Jack L. Miller, love of her life, they eloped to Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Ruth was a great and creative seamstress making her three daughter’s clothing until they left home and sometimes even after they left home. She also made drapes for her new homes no matter where they lived and even covered furniture at times. Not only was she a very talented seamstress but also a great housekeeper and very loving Mother. Oh and how she enjoyed playing Bridge, even on the computer.

When they lived in Battle Mountain, Nevada, she was president of the Women in Mining, helping to create and sell cookbooks to raise money for scholarships for local students. Also politically involved in helping mining in Northern Nevada.

In the 1980’s Ruth and Jack bought property to retire on in Eckert, Colorado. It was a blank canvas with so many potentials. They finally planted a small orchard and had one great big garden and grew enough food to feed an army so Ruth did a lot of canning and giving away quite a bit of the extra fruits and vegetables.

Ruth is survived by her three daughters, Judith I. (Terrance) Douglass of Idaho; Katherine K. McGill of Northern California; June D. (Lloyd)Flowers of Nevada; 4 grand Children; Jack Douglass, James (Lora) Douglass, Bryan (Samantha) Flowers and Sarah Flowers; 5 great grandchildren; Ryan (Brianna) Douglass, Brookelynn (Alex) Proctor; Kadi Douglass, Rebekah Douglass, Taylor Douglass, Jackson Flowers and Katherine Flowers; 3 brothers; Dallas (Loraine) Sturgeon of Denver, Colorado, Clarence (Vie) Sturgeon of Denver, Colorado, Bob (Margie) Sturgeon Delta, Colorado; numerous nieces and nephews.
