Royce Tipton

Royce Tipton, age 84, of Montrose, Colorado went to be with the Lord on December 20, 2014.  Royce was born May 13, 1930 in Durango, Colorado to Ethel Tipton (Jameson) and David Tipton.  Most of his life he lived in Colorado Springs.  He served in the National Guard at Ellsworth Air Force Base in Rapid City, South Dakota.  He also lived in the Northwest in Washington and Oregon but more recently in Montrose.  He loved the small town atmosphere and the friendly people.

In 1952 he married Betty (Lee) Hunt.  They shared 62 happy years together.  Royce also worked for Transit Mix Concrete until he retired.

Royce was a kind and caring father, husband, grandfather, great-grandfather, son brother and friend.  He loved his family so much and was more than willing to help when needed.  He will be deeply missed and forever loved.

Royce liked to fish, hike, and work on home renovation projects.  He also enjoyed going to the Pavilion dances.  He loved the many dogs he had over the years and was a generous supporter of animal shelters.

Royce was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.  Survivors include his wife, Betty (Lee) Tipton; daughter Linda Myers, (Ken) of Choctaw, Oklahoma; and sons, Larry Tipton of Colorado Springs, Tracy Tipton (Diane) of Bend, Oregon, Chris Tipton of Carbondale, Colorado; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and stepbrother Tom Hackman of Colorado Springs, Colorado.  At Royce’s request, cremation has taken place and a memorial service in celebration of his life will be held in the summer of 2015.  Arrangements are under the direction of Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory, Montrose, Colorado.
