Ronald Evans Miller, 67, of Montrose, Colorado, passed away on Sunday at the Veterans Community Center in Grand Junction, after losing his battle with cancer. Born in Montrose on April 29th, 1950 to Donald Emery Miller and Joy Lorraine Price, Ron lived his entire life in Montrose, leaving only during his time in the United States Navy.
Ron graduated from Montrose High School in 1969 and after his time in the military, married the love of his life on March 24th, 1978, Carol Ann Miller of Norwood, Colorado. Carol preceded him in death after also losing her battle to cancer in 1992. Ron worked hard as a heavy equipment operator for most of his career. He enjoyed nothing more than the outdoors having a love for walking, biking, camping, fishing, hunting arrowheads and recently disk golf. Reading was a passion of his and he could often be found with his nose in a Louis L’Amour book.
Ron was most loving and proud of his children, Jared Len Miller of Santa Rosa, California, who is a chef by trade and Briana Collette Miller-Venturo of Denver, Colorado, who works as a hotel General Manager. He is survived by both Jared and Briana along with her husband, Paul Venturo.
Ron was also preceded in death by his brother Rodney Miller and parents Donald and Joy. He is survived by his sister Debbie Oliver, along with a nephew and several nieces. Ron was fiercely independent, feisty and little stubborn, absolutely generous and a loved son, brother, husband, father, uncle and friend to many.
The family has planned a private graveside ceremony at Valley Lawn Cemetery for 3:00 PM on Friday July 21st, 2017. Following, the family would like to invite everyone who knew and loved Ron to a Celebration of Life at the Lion’s Park Clubhouse, 602 North Nevada in Montrose at 6:00 PM that evening. Crippin Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
