Robert Lee Holzmeister, Sr.

August 28, 1942 - June 7, 2024

Robert "Bob" Holzmeister, Sr., age 81, passed away on June 7, 2024 in Montrose Memorial Hospital. 

Bob was born to Casper and Mildred Holzmeister in Delta, Colorado. He attended local schools, graduated from Montrose High School in 1962, and married his loving and devoted wife of 60 years, Mary (Heavers), on June 6th, 1964. Bob is survived by his wife Mary, sons Robert, Jr. (Julie), John (Michelle), daughter AnnMarie Dutra (John), grandsons Jeremy, Trevor, and Tanner Holzmeister, granddaughter Samantha Hutson, and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters.

Bob was a hard-working man who owned and operated Grandview Cemetery and proudly worked part-time at the Rosebowl most of his life. Baseball, basketball, and bowling were his passion. He also loved to fish. Bob was a huge New York Yankees’ and Colorado Rockies’ fan and was a dynamic player himself. He was well-recognized at Montrose High School for his incredible pitching skills. The most important thing he passed on to his children is the ability and drive to work hard. 

A mass in memory of Bob will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Friday, July 19, 2024 at 10:00 A.M. A private burial will take place in Grandview Cemetery immediately following. Cremation has taken place at Crippin Funeral Home in Montrose, Colorado.
