Richard Scheuerman of Naturita passed away on Monday, October 13th

at the Hope West Hospice Center in Grand Junction.

 

Richard was born March 2, 1942 in Bison Kansas to Benjamin and

Leah ( Matal) Scheuerman .

 

He lived in Kansas until he was 15, moved to Apache Junction, AZ for

two years before moving to Naturita. He graduated from Nucla High School

in 1960.

 

He married his High School sweetheart and the love of his life

Judith Diane Erwin on June 30, 1962. They were married 52 years.

 

He worked at the Mineral Joe #2 mine for 4 years, then worked for

Pete Peters at Uravan Supply Company for 9 years before buying the company

and operating it for 36 years.

 

Richard was involved in the Jaycees, Lions Club, Moose Club. He was

a member of the Naturita City Council and volunteered for the Nucla –

Naturita Fire Department for 30 years.

 

Richard was a rockhound, fisherman, hunter and loved

camping , boating and panning for gold.

 

He is survived by his wife Judy of Naturita; son, Rick Scheuerman

of Naturita; daughter and son in law, Cheryl and Troy Allen of Fort Collins;

sister Ruth Axman of Hoisington, Kansas; grandchildren, Mariah and Matthew

Allen of Fort Collins; Christopher Scheuerman of Naturita.  A Funeral Service was held on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at The Trinity Baptist Church in Naturita.  Interment followed the service at Norwood Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to Nucla/Naturita Fire And ambulance Service.  Arrangements are under the direction of Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory, Montrose, Co.
