Richard (Rich) Delmar Miller passed into the arms of his heavenly father on December 19, 2017. He was surrounded by his loving family.
Rich was born on July 29, 1942, to Delmar Dorsey Miller and Anna Florence (Bacon) Miller in St. Louis, Missouri. He spent his childhood in the Mississippi river town of Winfield, MO. His family moved to the town of Ferguson, MO, when Rich was in middle school. After graduating from Ferguson High School, Rich attended Southeast Missouri State, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in education. He later earned a Masters degree in administration from the University of Missouri St. Louis. While attending Southeast Missouri State, he met and married the love of his life, Mary (Wolverton) Miller. Rich and Mary were blessed with two daughters: Catherine Lynnette Miller, of Bellingham Washington and Christi Renee (Jon) Merritt of Montrose. Rich was also a proud, loving grandparent to Calvin Richard Merritt and Valerie Jane Merritt.
Rich is survived by his two sisters: Joyce Ann Lilley of Ferguson, MO and Gloria Elaine Nugent of Florissant, MO as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
Rich always put his family first. He was a loving and generous husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed anything related to history, especially of the American West. He taught history for the Hazelwood Missouri School District for 30 years. Rich also enjoyed golf, music, and travel and was an avid reader. Rich was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ferguson MO. A celebration of life for Rich is planned for a later date. Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory in Montrose is assisting the family.
