Richard Arlen Hewitt Sr.

Richard Arlen Hewitt, Sr., of Montrose passed away Saturday, January 20, 2018 at the age of 80. Richard was born to Albert and Helen (Martin) Hewitt at Hudson Massachusetts. He spent his childhood and received his education in Central Village, Connecticut.
Richard married Emma Ilene Hewitt at the First Congregational Church in Central Village, celebrating 59 years together. He worked for General Dynamics for 12 years, and was an Aircraft Spotter during the Korean War through the civil Service for many years. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Olathe, Colorado.
Richard was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. He loved music and the great outdoors. A favorite past time would be fishing, hunting, camping and wood working. He enjoyed meeting people, visiting and spending time with his family. Richard had fought Parkinson’s for 51 years of his life.
Surviving family member include his wife, Emma of the family home; son Richard (Rick) Arlen Hewitt Jr. and wife Linda from Arizona; daughters, Lynnita Mae Davis and husband Richard from Nebraska, Patricia (Patti) Ann Scheulen and husband Christopher (Shoe) from Colorado and son William (Bill) Barber Hewitt and Sharon Hewitt from Colorado; one brother, Lionel (Buddy) Everett Hewitt, 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Richard was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Harry, John and Richard’s twin, Robert Hewitt.
A celebration of Richard’s life will be held Sunday, January 28, 2018 from 1:00 to 3:00 P.M. at the United Methodist Church in Olathe. The service will conclude at the Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warriors, 115 S. Park Avenue, Montrose, Co 81401. Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory in Montrose is assisting the family.
