Rebecca B. Steinman

February 25, 1917 — March 10, 2013

Rebecca Steinman, beloved by family, church and community passed peacefully on March 10, 2013.  She had just celebrated her 96th birthday.  Rebecca was a source of great strength and love to her family, extended family and friends.  Her sunny nature and warm regard for others brought her a close and large circle of friends of all ages.  She loved to invite people home to a meal and a game of dominoes.  Her guest bed was always offered to those passing through or needing a place to stay awhile.  Her loving hands were always busy creating beautiful needlework, baby blankets and quilts.  Her very nature was to care and share and to leave her world a loving and beautiful place.  Rebecca lived her life following the “Golden Rule”, Do unto others as you would have others do unto you.  That is why everyone who came into contact with Rebecca knew she loved and cared for them and why she was loved and cared for by so many who loved her.

Rebecca grew up in Cedaredge with parents Worley and Audrey Wallace and brother William Wallace.  She is survived by her husband Fred of 59 years, son Ronnie Robertson (Merrilee) of Montrose, and her daughter Mary Ellen Mullen (Robert) of Doylestown, PA., step-daughter Joann Daniels of Oregon.  Grandchildren Mark Mullen of California, Polly Mullen Heeney of PA. and Tanner Mullen of NY. Rebecca is also survived by Great Grandchildren James Mullen and Amanda Heeney.   Debra Borden (Lee) and Jamie Cooper (Jason) both of Grand Junction were proud to call Rebecca “Grandma” and their children Courtney Lee Borden, James Borden, Kevin Brink, Sarah Brink, Ryan Koke, Aili Cooper and Christian Cooper, had great pride in their Great Grandma Rebecca.  Extended family include Gordon and Sheryl Stropel and son Paul of Montrose and Ann Lee who has been their caregiver for last chapter of Rebecca’s journey.

Rebecca was preceded to heaven by Granddaughter Heather Mullen, Grandson Dean Robertson, her parents and brother William.
Burial has taken place at Grand View Cemetery.  A Memorial Celebration of Rebecca’s life will be March 27, 2013 at Crossroads Victory Church at 10:00 a.m.   Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Colorado, P.O.
