Ray William (Bill) Ruybalid was received with open arms from our Blessed LORD on Thursday August 2, 2018. Bill was 67. Ray William (Bill) Ruybalid was born in Gunnison, Colorado on May 12, 1951. He was born to Tito C. and Mary D. Ruybalid, whom have both preceded him in death. Bill was married but separated to Jackie A. (Eggink) Ruybalid of Hughson California, at the time of his death. She survives. Bill had been married three previous times. Bill’s request was cremation and that has taken place.
During Bill’s early childhood, he lived in several places including Gunnison, Colorado, Uravan, Colorado, and Olathe Colorado. Bill made his home and was residing in Montrose at the time of his passing. Bill began his primary school years in Uravan, Colorado and continued them after moving to Olathe, Colorado when he was in the 4th grade. During his junior and high school years Bill participated in football, basketball, and baseball. Bill lettered his freshmen year in football and was on the GVL Championship team during the academic year of 1967-68. Bill’s education concluded after acquiring his GED.
Bill’s working career began early in family enterprises including a custom haying business and a family grocery store, which he became general manager. His real talents were in the industrial construction industry. He made his home in Craig, Colorado from 1977-1985, during the construction of three coal fired electrical power generating plants. He then continued his construction career in Florida and in Arizona. In wanting to stay and be closer to home, Bill moved back to the Montrose area where he remained. He continued his work in the local area construction trade. His last employment was a maintenance position at a local nursing home facility in Montrose. Bill was retired at the time of his death. Bill enjoyed his work. His talent for recognizing solutions made him “the go to guy”, that gained him recognition throughout his working years. A very common phrase was, “Go ask Bill, he’ll know”. He also enjoyed his personal time. Sports, particularly NASCAR, was his favorite pastime. He mostly enjoyed engines, car racing, most any tv spectator sport (NFL football), any indoor or outdoor activity that was competitive. He was good at picking winners.
Bill was personable and steadfast in his outlook of life. He was a father to three daughters and one son, whom all survive. His eldest, Amber E. Rountree (Toby) of Glenwood Springs, Colorado, Tiffany L. Brundle (Chris) of Silt, Colorado, Levi Garrison (Trisha) of Deming, New Mexico and Terri C. Smith of Montrose, Colorado. Bill was also blessed to be a grandfather to three beautiful granddaughters. Tori B. Byers of Silt, Colorado, Kaetlyn R. Ruybalid of Tacoma, Washington, and Sarah R. Ruybalid of Montrose, Colorado. All survive. Other immediate and surviving relatives include four siblings, a brother, Thomas C. Ruybalid of Farmington, New Mexico, a sister, Dolores (Dolly) Saunders (Gene) of Montrose, Colorado, a brother, Gene A. Ruybalid of Montrose, Colorado, and a brother, James (Jim) Ruybalid of Farmington, New Mexico. Bill is also survived by his two closest first cousins, Christine C. Herrera of Montrose, Colorado and Linda S. (Paul) Lucero of Los Lunas, New Mexico and numerous nephews and nieces, great nephew and nieces, and great-great nephew and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, his very first and dear nephew, R. Keith Saunders, his most favorite uncle and aunt, Chris and Florence (Bennie) Quintana, and a first cousin, Laurence (Larry) Quintana.
Memorial services for Ray William (Bill) Ruybalid will held on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at The Crippin Funeral Home Chapel, 802 East Main in Montrose. Crippin Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements for our father, grandpa, uncle and brother.
