Phyllis Lucille Anders

May 14, 1923 ~ November 20, 2015

Phyllis Lucille Anders, age 92 of Montrose, passed away Friday, November 20, 2015 at Valley Manor Care Center in Montrose.  Phyllis was born May 14, 1923 to Paul E. and Gertrude (Lane) Dickerson Sr., in Delta, Colorado.  She spent her childhood in the Pea Green Area and received her elementary education, then attended Olathe High School.

July 24, 1940, Phyllis married John C. “Bud” Anders in Moab, Utah.  He preceded her in death on June 7, 2004, in Montrose.   They farmed in Olathe on the family farm in the Dry Creek Area and raised their family.  Phyllis and Bud moved to Montrose in 2000 to be closer to town and doctors, and made their home until their time of death.  She was a member of the Montrose Christian Church.

While raising her children, Phyllis and fellow mothers made sure the children were fed a hot meal at lunch time.  She was a homemaker, devoted wife, mother and grandmother.  In her younger years she loved to fish and camping with her father, and Phyllis’s family was her life.  She was always interested in their activities, and attended their sporting events, without fail.  She had a great love for music and she respected the earth which was evident in her beautiful garden.  Surviving family members include her children; John E. Anders, Paula E. (Alan) Tollefson, Larry Lee (Pat) Anders all of Montrose, and Jerry Joe (Toni) Anders of Olathe; numerous grandchildren, and great grandchildren.  Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, husband and siblings.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to HopeWest Hospice, in memory of Phyllis Anders, 725 S. 4th Street, Montrose, Co. 81401 or to the donor’s choice.  A Celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, November 28th at 11:00 am at Montrose Christian Church, with a reception to follow.  Cremation has preceded the service.  The service will conclude at the church.  Crippin Funeral Home, Montrose, Colorado is assisting the family.
