Philip “Phil” Arthur Nesius Jr.

May 28, 1930 ~ January 23, 2016

Phil was born in Chicago, IL to Marion Elizabeth Nugent Nesius and Philip Arthur Nesius Sr. He grew up in Chicago and graduated from DePaul Academy and then graduated from Coyne Electric School. He was working on his apprenticeship for electrician when his Air Force Reserve Unit was activated during the Korean War. He served in active duty in the U.S. Air Force from March, 1951 to August, 1952.

It was while in the Air Force that he found his “love” for English sports cars and that became his life’s work. He was the parts manager for Austin MG. Jaguar Midwest distributor for many years, and ultimately part owner of International Import Car Parts. He was known as the “go to” man for many questions and problems of all descriptions.

Not long after retirement he and Carol moved to Montrose in 1996. Here he was able to pursue his new found love of Jeeping and exploring many of the back roads on the western slope. He was a volunteer with the forest for several years. He was the volunteer photographer for the Montrose Fire Protection District, “Photo Phil” for over 10 years, and helped with the Montrose Historical Museum with various projects.

He is survived by his daughter, Karen (Mike) Nesius Roeger, and grandson Peter of Fort Wayne, IN; and son William “Bill” and wife Sutaya of Waukegan, IL.

At Phil’s request, there are no services. Cremation has taken place. Arrangements are under the care of Crippin Funeral Home and Crematory.
