December 18, 1945- June 10, 2019

Peggy died peacefully surrounded by family and friends at San Juan Living Center in Montrose, Colorado June ·10 th after a brief battle with cancer. She was born Peggy Elaine Hawks to John W. Hawks and Clara Mae (Russell) Hawks on December 18, 1945 in Montrose, Colorado.

Peggy grew up with four older brothers and a younger sister on a sheep ranch. They spent summers in Dry Creek with the sheep and were “like a bunch of wild little Indians” she liked to say. On February 9th, 1963 she married Gary Ray Williams in Montrose and they made their home here. She was one of the first women truck drivers when it was completely male dominated, and she had some wild stories to tell about it. Her ability to grow things was a point of pride and she always had flowers, vegetables and a large variety of houseplants. Peggy was an avid reader, sometimes writer and had strong opinions on politics. She was blessed to have a few horses that she loved and a couple of beloved dogs, but she rarely passed by any critter without giving a scratch and a kind word.

In more recent years she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great. grandchildren. Peggy also spent time strengthening her faith in the Lord and receiving her Temple endowment and being sealed to her husband.                                              ·
