Paul J. Schott, age 75, passed away on March 13, 2018. He was born in Queens, New York. Paul grew up surrounded by family, including his two sisters, Joanna and Christine. After graduating in one of the first classes from SUNY Stony Brook with a degree in engineering, Paul went on to work for aerospace companies such as Gruman, Martin Marietta, Curtis-Wright and GE and in doing so worked on the Apollo space projects. Upon retiring from aerospace in the late 60’s, Paul and his wife, Patricia, moved to Montrose where they settled on a small ranch south of town to raise their two children, Justin and Catherine. Together, Paul and Pat became independent newspaper distributors while farming. It was only a couple of years ago that Paul finally retired from the newspaper business. Paul loved intellectual discourse, travel and spending time with friends and family.
A celebration of Paul’s life will be held from noon to 2:00 pm on Friday, June 15, 2018 at Ted’s Steakhouse. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Paul may be made to HopeWest Hospice, 3090 N. 12th Street, Grand Junction, CO. 81506
