Patricia Ann Vitela

Patricia, Known as Pat, was born in Brooklyn, New York on May 2, 1935. She grew up in the country near West Chester, Pennsylvania. After graduating from high school she moved to Wilmington, Delaware. Pat married and had three children, James, Stephen and Cynthia. In 1973 she moved to Glen Falls, New York where she received her Registered Nursing degree. In 1981 she moved to Phoenix, Arizona where she worked as a Psychiatric Nurse. Pat always said, “Nursing gave back more to me than I ever gave to it. It fed my soul. ” She married John D. Vitela in 1988. In 2000, after vacationing in Ridgway, Colorado she and John moved to Montrose. “The best thing we ever did.” Pat enjoyed volunteering at Hospice, the Medical Mission and especially, at the Open Arms Empowerment Center (House of Promise).
Surviving family members include her husband, John Vitela of Jerome, Arizona; son James B. Lidgey of Austin, Texas; daughter Cynthia L. Schoen of Rockport, Texas; two brothers John L. Hunt and Edward Hunt; on sister Marjorie Phelps; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Pat was preceded in death by her son, Stephen J. Lidgey and a brother Thomas Hunt. At Pat’s request, cremation has taken place and no services will be held. Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory in Montrose is assisting the family.
