Patricia Ann (Lansdown) Lahr

Patricia “Pat” Ann (Lansdown) Lahr passed on to Heaven to meet her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on February 18, 2014, in her home in Ouray, Colorado, after a lengthy illness.

Patricia “Pat” Ann (Lansdown) Lahr was born October 3, 1931, in Woodward, Oklahoma to parents Forest Marvin “Pat” Lansdown and Edith Mary (Aldrich) Lansdown. Pat graduated from Woodward High School in 1949. She married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Keith Albert Lahr, on July 17, 1949, in the First Christian Church, in Woodward, Oklahoma. Pat enjoyed serving her Lord, Jesus Christ, and began her lifelong career of serving by organizing the church nursery for the First United Methodist Church and playing the organ and piano for services held there in Woodward, Oklahoma. The couple moved to Stillwater, Oklahoma, for Keith to attend college at Oklahoma State University, where Pat served as a librarian for the college until 1951. Keith and Pat moved back to Woodward in 1951, where she and Keith helped out on the family farm and dairy, and Pat was a care-giver for Keith’s grandmother there on the farm. In 1953, Keith was inducted into the Marine Corps and the couple moved to Santa Ana, California, to be near his base in San Diego. The couple’s daughter, Cynthia Lahr, was born in 1954 in Corona, California, while Keith was stationed there. Following Keith’s honorable discharge, Pat and Keith moved back to Stillwater, Oklahoma, for Keith to finish his college education. The couple moved to Chillicothe, Texas, in 1955, shortly after Keith received his degree. Keith was employed by the Texas A & M Research Station there in Chillicothe as an agronomist. In 1956 a second daughter, Gail Sue (Lahr) Lundberg, was born in Chillicothe. Both the couples’ two sons were also born in Chillicothe, Texas, Randall Keith Lahr, born in 1960, and Ronald Kent Lahr, born in 1961. The couple spent the next fifteen years in Chillicothe, where Pat played the organ and piano at the First Methodist Church, and she also served as emergency and surgical nurse for Chillicothe Hospital. In 1977, Keith was transferred to Texas A & M University, College Station, Texas, where Pat served as the librarian for the Texas A & M Library map room for the next ten years, retiring in 1987. A mutual love for the Colorado Rocky Mountains and outdoor activities brought Pat and Keith to Ouray, Colorado, when they retired, where they purchased their home and Pat lived for the past twenty-seven years.

Pat was preceded in her passing to Heaven by her husband, Keith, on July 6, 2005, her parents, Forest and Edith Lansdown of Woodward, Oklahoma, and two grand-daughters: Brianna White Gomez, December 26, 2010, and Zina Nicole Lahr, November 20, 2013. Survivors of Pat are her sister, Marilyn (Lansdown) Moseley and husband, Melvin Moseley, of Laverne, Oklahoma, a daughter, Cynthia Lahr, of the home, Gail Sue (Lahr) Lundberg and husband, Brad, of Murphy, Texas, Randall Keith Lahr, of Los Angeles, California, Ronald Kent Lahr, of Sullivan, Indiana, grandson, Brandon White and wife, Liza, of Denver, Colorado, grand-daughter, Lindsay Lundberg of Fairfax, Virginia, and grandson, Brady Lundberg of Murphy, Texas. Pat is also survived by four great-grandchildren: Mali Elise Gomez, Eleri Cate Gomez, and Curren Blaec Gomez, of Amarillo, Texas, and a baby boy scheduled to arrive to parents, Brandon and Liza White, of Denver, Colorado, in May, 2014. Pat is survived by many nieces and nephews, and also, many ‘adopted’ family members who were lovingly invited to join her family.

Pat truly represented to all she met the Love of Jesus Christ. She began each day at 4:00 am by reading her Bible, and often shared Bible study with her children, grandchildren, and friends. Pat frequently prepared meals for large groups of friends and family, and, through the years, she and Keith housed several people who found themselves in need of ‘extended family’ and a place to call home. Anyone who knew her could be assured that her self-less example would bring them kind words and reassurance, by her example, of God’s unconditional love.

Services in honor of Pat Lahr’s life include a viewing to be held at the Crippin Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, February 22, from 5:30 pm until 7:00 pm. Graveside services will be held at the Cedar Hill Cemetery, five miles north of Ouray, Colorado, on Saturday, February 22, 2014 from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm. A time of memorial tribute and sharing about the life of Pat Lahr will be held immediately following the graveside service at the Restaurante El Tomochic, in Ridgway, Colorado. Arrangements are under the care of Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory, Montrose, Colorado
