Oscar Franklin “Buster” Burris

Oscar Franklin “Buster” Burris, age 81, of Montrose died July 7, 2016 at Montrose Memorial Hospital.  Buster was born November 7, 1934 to Walton Miles and Alice (Louetta) Luallen Burris in Malden, Missouri.  The family moved to Compton, California and Buster received his education there. He married Coraleen Louise Cummings on September 3, 1955 in Las Vegas, Nevada and she survives.  Buster and Coraleen had also resided in Anaheim, California before moving to Montrose where they made their home until Buster’s time of death.

Buster was a respectable truck driver for 35 years prior to his retirement.  Buster was a family man and enjoyed spending time with his family.  He loved his dogs and they were very loved and spent most of their time with Buster.  A favorite past time in his younger years was spent riding motorcycles.

Surviving family members include his beloved wife, Coraleen of the family home; his children Buster F. (Cindy) Burris of Montrose, Robin (Dennis) Romero of Haciena Heights, California, Jessica (Vince) Barrientos of Denton, Texas, Jennifer Burris of Montrose, one sister Betty Larson of Norwalk, California; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.  Buster was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Tamara Burris and brother Gary Burris.  A Funeral Service in celebration of Buster’s life will be held on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at 12:00 noon at The church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Hillcrest and Stratford Drive in Montrose.  Interment will follow the service at Grand View Cemetery, west of Montrose.  Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory in Montrose is assisting the family.
