Norman E. Kroschel, age 85, died January 11, 2017 at Delta County Memorial Hospital after a long stay at Willow Tree nursing home.  Norman was born January 7, 1932 to Edwin and Thelma (Mosher) Kroschel in Del Norte, Colorado. He spent his childhood ,and received his education in Del Norte.  Following high school Norman served his country in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged. He then married Wilma J. Beardslee on September 12, 1954 in Montrose.  Employment was hard to find and Norman and his family left for Denver and reenlisted spending three years in Germany, five in San Antonio, and then a second trip to Germany. Their last move was to Ellsworth Air Force Base in South Dakota, and where he retired after 21 years.

Norman was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. and American Legion.  He was also the Quarter Master for the Boy Scouts of America and a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks in Delta.   He loved spending time with his family.  He loved the connecting with the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with his four sons.  Surviving family members include his wife, Wilma of Montrose; sons, Steven and Tari Kroschel of South Jordan, Utah, Alan and Wan Kroschel of Bangkok, and Barry and Carrie Kroschel of Leadville; seven grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; brother Delbert Kroschel of Montrose, Howard Lilly of Montrose, half-siblings Curtis Kroschel of Canada, Raymond Kroschel of Del Norte, Kenneth Kroschel of Longmont,  Dale Kroschel of Pueblo, Judy Kroschel-McCabe of Canada, and Rella Kroschel-Jones of Pueblo, Timothy Kroschel of Del Norte as well as their spouses. Norman was preceded in death by his parents and one son Jerry Kroschel.

A Memorial Service in celebration of Norman’s life will be held Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at Crippin Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Paul Nystrom officiating.   A Graveside Service with Military Honors will follow the service at Grand View Cemetery, west of Montrose.  Condolences may also be sent to the family at www.crippinfuneralhome.com.  Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory in Montrose is assisting the family.
