Neil Ward Black, age 93, passed away peacefully in the comforts of his home on Wednesday, April 25, 2018.
Neil was born on June 15, 1924 in Wolcott, Colorado. Neil worked as a rancher, miner, and as a fish culturist for the Colorado Division of Fish and Game. On November 11, 1960, Neil married the love of his life Mary (Gerber) Black, they have been married nearly 58 years. Neil served his country in the United States Army during WWII in the Philippians and Japan. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, an avid bowler, and loved nature and his family.
Neil is survived by his wife Mary Black of Montrose, CO; his son Carl Black of Montrose, CO; his daughters Dorthy Langstaff of Grand Junction, CO; Jett Black of Grants Pass, OR; Nine Grandchildren; Ten Great-Grandchildren; Four Great-Great-Grandchildren.
There will be a Memorial Service on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church on Park Ave. In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to HopeWest Hospice at 725 South 4th Street, Montrose, CO 81401. Arrangements are under the care of Crippin Funeral Home and Crematory.
