Michael Eugene Ackerson 66, of Montrose, CO passed away suddenly at his home on Saturday June 8, 2019. He was born August 13, 1952 in Uravan, CO to Rosalie and Willis Ackerson. Mike graduated in 1970 from Nucla High School and married to Susan (Gardner) on March 5, 1971 in Naturita, CO. He worked 29 years as a heavy equipment Mechanic/Supervisor in an open pit copper mine in Arizona before returning home to Colorado in 1999, where he worked at Home Depot for several years before retiring in 2014. Mike enjoyed hunting, camping, 4-wheeling, working in his shop, and playing poker with his buddies on Thursdays. He also enjoyed bowling, baseball, competitive horseshoes, and wood working. Mike is survived by his wife Susan of 48 years. His sons Michael (Laura) of St. Anthony, Idaho, and Brandon (Shanda) of Montrose, and daughter Sherry of Veradale, Washington. Sister, Debby Jackson of California. Grandsons Chance and Martin, step granddaughters Raelynn (Wade) and Leann, and step great grandson Ryder. Numerous nieces and nephews, family, and friends. Mike is preceded in death by his parents. Memorial Service will be held Saturday June 15, 2019 at Waves of Mercy, 30 Colorado Avenue, Montrose, CO at 10:00 AM. Graveside Service will follow immediately in Hotchkiss, CO. Reception will be held at the family home (3-5 PM). Crippin Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
