Melvin “Clyde” Cook

Clyde Cook, age 80, of Montrose passed away April 8, 2015 at his home.  Clyde was born October 15, 1934 to Millard and Annis (Valentine) Cook in Alamosa, Colorado. At a young age, Clyde’s family moved to Montrose and he graduated from Montrose High School.  He married his wife Shirley Dean Annear on July 7, 1956 in Montrose.  He worked for the County of Montrose as a mechanic before he became the Purchasing Agent until his retirement and serving 36 years for the County.  Clyde and Shirley were members of the Montrose Christian Church and he had served in the National Guard. In Clyde’s off time and a favorite past time was playing the drums since the 5th grade, in various dance bands and loved spending time with his horses.

Surviving family members include his wife, Shirley; son, Daren Michael (Pam) Cook of Montrose; daughter Lisa A. Cook Boughan of Flora Vista, New Mexico; two brothers Claude (Maurine) Cook of Gunnison, Colorado and Floyd Lee Cook of Montrose;  four grandchildren, Colby Dean Cook, Taylor Ray Brown, Blane Boughan, Shayla (Zack) Lee, and 6 great-grandchildren, Kimber Lou Cook, Oakley Cook, Stryker Cook, Aspen Areal Brown, Tyton Lee and Izelynn Lee.   Clyde was preceded in death by one son, Dean Cook and his parents.

A Memorial Service in celebration of Clyde’s life will be Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at the Montrose Christian Church with Pastor Paul Nystrom officiating.  The Service will conclude at the Church.  Arrangements are under the direction of Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory, Montrose, Colorado.
