Maurice E. Wheeler

Maurice E. Wheeler, of Montrose died May 1, 2014 at his home.  Maurice was born October 7, 1928 to Fred and Vera (Kelly) Wheeler in Newton, Iowa.  He received his education and graduated high school in Newton.  Maurice served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.

Maurice married Wyonne Baker on April 9, 1954 in Iowa City, Iowa.  They moved to Perry, Iowa where Maurice was employed with Western Electric as an Installer, raised their family and resided for many years. In 1995 they moved  to Montrose to spend the rest of their retirement years.  Wyonne passed away  February 4,  2010 in Montrose.

Maurice’s favorite pastimes were watching football, playing cards.  He enjoyed spending time with his family, his neighbors and friends. Survivors include his daughter, Linda Sellars of San Antonio, Texas and son Tim Wheeler of Montrose; grandson Dustin and Wife Andrea Haney and two great-grandchildren, Madison and Andrew. He will be missed by them all.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. at Crippin Funeral Home Chapel.  The service will conclude at the Chapel.  Arrangements are under the direction of Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory, Montrose, Colorado.
