Mary Andes

Mary Andes was born Feb. 14, 1918 and died on February 6, 2013 at Sunrise Creek Assisted Living in Montrose, as the age of 94. Mary was one of the first residents of Sunrise Creek and leaves many good friends behind. Mary was born in Oakland, California and the family moved to Los Angeles, California when she was very young. She finished her education at Los Angeles High School. From the time she was a young girl she was a dancer and specialized in Flamenco style dancing. She spent her late teens and early twenties performing in Los Angeles at many of the popular night clubs during the 1940’s and appearing in a few films during that time as a dancer. Up through her 30’s, Mary entertained across the United States, including performances in Alaska and New York. For her remaining working years she was a secretary in Los Angeles.

She moved to Montrose in January of 2007 and enjoyed the area with its many scenic beauties. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Patti and Lee Bacon, formerly of Montrose and now in the Dallas, TX, area; twin brother, John Andes of California; nephew Rob Cagle of Salt Lake City’ and great-granddaugher, Candace Domagalski, of Irving, TX. She will be missed by her family and friends. At Mary’s request, cremation has taken place and no services will be held. Arrangements are under the direction of Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory, Montrose, Co.
