Mary Abramo

Loving Mother – Always with a sweet smile

November 13, 1918 ~ January 26, 2016

Mary Abramo, a lifetime resident of Montrose, died Tuesday, January 26, 2016, at her home with her daughter and son at her side.  She was 97 years old.

Mary, the daughter of John Massarotti and Adelina (DeJulio) Massarotti was born on November 13, 1918 in Sams, Colorado where she grew up, received her education.  She married Angelo Abramo on September 23, 1939.  The couple was blessed with two children, a daughter (Rose Marie) and son (Angelo).  Mary also helped raise her stepson (Joe) and fondly treasured the memories.

Mary is dearly remembered by her daughter (Rose Marie) and son (Angelo) for her loving care, taking full responsibility raising them by herself when they were children.  She worked so hard trying to make a living and managed to care for all the expenses with so little.  She was always there for them.  She was an amazing mother.  They treasure the spiritual value from the Bible that she instilled in them from early childhood to put God first in life.  She will be dearly missed!

Mary was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses.  Her main joy was volunteering her time sharing the ministry.  She loved regularly visiting people in Montrose and sharing with them the comforting message found in the Bible.  Everyone was drawn to her warm sweet smile.  She gave a fine witness to everyone she came in contact with.  She faithfully did this for some 60 years right up to the time of her passing.  She especially enjoyed all the love and concern she received from everyone in the Montrose and surrounding Congregations of Jehovah’s Witnesses.  Many adopted her as their ‘mom’ or grandmother’ and this warmed her heart.  She especially enjoyed all the little children who would approach her with a hug and a kiss.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, one sister; Edith Massarotti; three brothers, Domenick, James and Lewis Massarotti.

Survivors grateful to have shared her life include her daughter, Rose Marie and son, Angelo both of Montrose; stepson, Joe of Indianapolis, Ind; one sister, Annie Deltondo of Montrose; nephews, Bill Deltondo, of Montrose and Johnny Massarotti, of Yorktown, Va. Numerous great, and great great nephews and nieces and their families whom she dearly cherished.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2016 by Minister Bill Martin at 2:00 pm at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 16672 Woodgate Road in Montrose.  The Service will conclude at the Kingdom Hall.  Crippin Funeral Home, in Montrose is assisting the family.
