Marjorie M Hecht (Mingus)

June 10, 1932 — February 13, 2019

Marjorie M. Hecht born June 10, 1932, in Montrose Colorado, to Glenn and Hazel Mingus.  She and her 5 siblings were raised by their single mother Hazel.  Marjorie passed away February 13, 2019 at Valley Manor Care Center Memory Unit.

A memorial service to honor and celebrate Marjorie’s life is scheduled for 11:00 AM, Monday Feb. 18, 2019 at Montrose Christian Church.

She married Raymond Hecht in 1950, married for 35 years before his death in 1985.  Together they had six children Connie, Barbara, Cynthia (Dynamite), Karen (Tim), Timothy (Vicki), Brenda (Vern) all of Montrose.

She was mainly a homemaker raising her 6 children, grandchildren, and being a big help with the next generation of children.  Later on she was the familiar face at Taco Time and Arby’s, before this terrible disease of dementia took her from us.  Mom was famous for her homemade bread and dinner rolls which were a usual request at holiday meals. Her favorite pastimes were bowling, crocheting, fishing, and bingo.

Thank you for the many memories, especially the many get-togethers of family and friends at our home.   The “hootnannys” with Daddy playing the guitar and Mom teaching us how to dance.

While managing Taco Time, Mom was known to give help with lunch to school kids that did not have any money.

Also surviving are 13 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren, and one sister, Dorothy Dougherty. Preceding Marjorie in death is her husband, Raymond, mother Hazel, siblings – Donald Mingus, Gladys Smith, Betty Vickers, Clifford Mingus.

Thank you to all of the staff of Valley Manor Care Center and HopeWest Hospice for their care and compassion for our mother for the past 2 years.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Crippin Funeral Home and Crematory
