Marjorie Jane Young

October 21, 1923 – January 15, 2017

Formerly of Denver and Aurora, Colorado, Marj died in Montrose, Colorado on January 15, 2017. She was born in Miles City, Montana on October 21, 1923. She graduated from Custer County High School in 1942 and continued her education at the Lamont School of Music at the University of Denver and graduated in 1946. Marj immediately began her singing career eventually performing on stage in Denver, St Louis and New York City.

In 1949 Marj married (Glenn) Norman Young of Baltimore, Maryland and began her second career raising their children Michael and Michele. After divorce she embarked on the difficult task of raising two children completely on her own and building another very successful career in accounting and office management in Denver, Colorado. She always carried with her a well earned pride that her children went on to be successful in their careers and lives.

Marj was proceeded in death by her parents Roy W. Milligan and Barbara Lenore Lappin and her beloved daughter Michele. She is survived by her son Michael Young, her grandchildren Luke Young and Alamea Van Item and her great grandson Camden Young.

Marj was a lifelong lover of animals, especially dogs and horses. Some of the fondest memories of her youth were of riding horseback in the mountains of Montana. So, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to animal rescue and adoption services.

A memorial service and celebration of life will be scheduled for early spring in the Denver area.
