Marion met his wife JoAnn on May 7, 1949. They married six months later in Ft. Bragg, CA where he was working in the logging industry. He soon joined the Air Force and served his country for 10 years. After he left the military he moved his family to Aztec, NM where he worked in sales for Sears, Montgomery Wards and American Furniture. He and his family resided in Aztec for 47 years before moving to Montrose, CO in 2009.
Marion’s passions in life included camping, hunting, fishing, golfing and playing Texas Hold-em with the Western Slope Poker Tour and teaching his kids and grandkids how to be great poker players.
Marion was a man who was a devoted husband and father to his four children and two nieces he and JoAnn raised. He had a strong sense of right and wrong and lived a life that was honorable and decent, always putting his family’s best interests ahead of his own. He embraced life and was always eager to learn new things. He took up golf at the age of 68 and had four holes-in-one. When his health no longer allowed him to do the outdoor activities he so loved, at the age of 82 he got an iPad and learned how to find information on the Internet and set up a Facebook page so he could stay in touch with his family and friends. He was genuinely loved and admired by anyone who knew him and will be greatly missed.
There will be a celebration of his life on Friday, May 9th from 2:00-5:00 pm at the home of Mike and Lisa Warren, 59860 W. LaSalle Rd., Montrose, CO.
