Marilynn Grace Peters

March 9, 1937 ~ January 2, 2015

Marilynn Peterson was born March 9, 1937 in Tilden, Nebraska.  When she was very young, her mother and father, W. Keith and Grace Peterson moved to Center, Nebraska where Marilynn grew up.  Her dad was Knox  County Attorney in Center.  She was very active in school activities and graduated 3rd in her class at Center High School.  The family then moved to Denver, Colorado where she enrolled in the University of Colorado.  Her schooling was cut short, as she and Ron Peters decided to get married after a short relationship.  Ten months later, Marilyn was a mother at only eighteen years old.  Marilynn and Ron moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming, where Ron worked for his dad in the tire business.  While in Cheyenne, they added two more children to their young family.  Joining their oldest daughter, Kristy Lynn, were a daughter, Karen Lee and a son, Kyle Leroy.  After ten years in Cheyenne, they returned to the Denver area.

Marilynn was a very good sport.  She loved to golf and she played tennis for a time.  She bowled in a league and even tried water and snow skiing with her family.  She worked at Sims Tire for several years and worked in the Oberon Junior High Library for several years.  She was also an excellent Tole painter.  She made many good friends and enjoyed going with them to many of the Tole painting conventions all over the country.  She enjoyed participating in all her children’s activities as they grew up and was always there for them.  She was a talented home decorator and was proud of her home making skills.  Marilynn passed these important talents on to her children.

In 1986, Ron and Marilynn moved to Montrose, CO to start a wholesale tire business and to be near all of her children.  Marilynn and Ron traveled all over the world.  From Hawaii many times to Australia, New Zealand, Japan, England, Italy, Greece, Frances and many other countries.  Eighteen years ago, Marilynn,  and Ron purchased a second home in Indio, California, spending the winters in California and the summers in Colorado.  During those eighteen years, she and Ron traveled in their motorhome to most of the states and three trips to Canada.

On January 22, 2015, Ron and Marilynn would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.  Marilynn was a wonderful mother, a very good grandmother of eight, and now, last May- a great grandmother.

She is survived by husband, Ronald Peters and her three children; Kristy Lynn Barrett and her husband, Tom Barrett of Montrose, Karen Lee Stuckey and her husband Randy Stuckey of Gunnison, Kyle Leroy Peters and his wife Judy Peters of Montrose:  Grandchildren; Kendra Kiklevich and her husband Eric Kiklevich of Gunnison Krisana Barrett of Denver, Ryan Stuckey of Harrah, Oklahoma, Kaleb Peters and his wife Hannah Peters of Montrose, Korby Peters of Montrose, Landon Barrett of Montrose, Riley Stuckey of Gunnison, Kia Peters of Grand Junction Great grandchild, Gracie Lee Kiklevich of Gunnison.
