Margaret “Peggy” McLeroy
August 31, 1944 – January 22, 2019
Margaret “Peggy” McLeroy was welcomed into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 22nd at Larchwood Inn in Grand Junction, Co. Born August 31, 1944, in Durango, Colorado, Margaret (nicknamed “Peggy” during her childhood) spent her early years in the towns of Ironton, Silverton, Eckert and Cedaredge. She is preceded in death by her parents Albert Nelson and Frances Fogg, and sister Irene Nelson.
Peggy married the love of her life, Robert “Bob” McLeroy on June 7, 1963 in Dove Creek, Colorado. They remained in union for 55 years and resided in Ouray, Silverton, Bull Canyon, Naturita, Grand Junction and finally Nucla, where they lived for 45 years. During their time in Nucla, Peggy was employed at the Apothecary Shoppe and was a cook for the West End School District and the Nucla-Naturita Senior Center. She enjoyed honoring local state champion high school athletes with homemade pizza and provided meals to rodeo kids of the community and the state. She loved her family dearly and felt blessed to take part in the raising and care of her siblings, nephews, nieces, children, grandchildren, and many other youths who found their way through the McLeroy’s door. Bob and Peggy offered countless young people physical, emotional, and spiritual support that has impacted them and their families to this day, leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness that will not soon be forgotten.
She is survived by her husband, Bob. A son and daughter and their spouses: Bobby and Diana McLeroy, and Nila and Ivan Archer. Four grandchildren: Dustin and Sarah McLeroy, Cassie McLeroy, Katherine Archer Bruegel and Jon David Bruegel, and Ethan Archer. Two great-grandchildren: Brooklyn McLeroy and Elise Bruegel. Two sisters: Mary Latimer, and Loretta and Bill Cullum. Three brothers: Jim and Debby Nelson, John and Susan Fogg, and Lyndon Fogg.
Services will be held at the Nucla Baptist Church at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 26, 2019. Graveside to follow.
