Margaret Elizabeth Bloomfield

April 24, 1918 ~ July 27, 2015

Margaret Elizabeth Bloomfield, age 97, died July 27, 2015 at San Juan Living Center in Montrose.  Margaret was born April 24, 1918 to Harvey M. and Carrie E. (Boyd) Scott in DeBeque, Colorado.  She was raised in Fruita, Colorado and graduated from high school in DeBeque.  Margaret went on to Mesa Junior College in Grand Junction, Colorado and graduated with a teaching certificate.  She married Hartley J. Bloomfield in December 1939 in Moab, Utah and he preceded her in death on November 9, 1983 in Meeker, Colorado.  Margaret had also resided in Norwood, Colorado prior to living in Meeker.

She was a member of the Methodist Church in Meeker, Order of the Eastern Star, and a dancing group, Star Stompers.  Margaret was a homemaker, a ranch wife, mother, grandmother and sister.  Her career was as a Chief Telephone Operator for many years, a school teacher at Little Beaver School.  She enjoyed square dancing and local history.

Surviving family members include her son, Hartley H. Bloomfield of Norwood; five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.  Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Hartley; a son Robert Bloomfield, and two brothers Robert and Boyd Scott.  Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory, Montrose, Co. is assisting the family.
