Madalene Mccoy (Watkins)

April 26, 1926 — June 17, 2021

Madalene Watkins McCoy passed away peacefully at the age of 95 at her home June 17, 2021. She was born in Short, Oklahoma, April 26,1926, to Lavada Pollard Watkins and M.M. Watkins. She was preceded by her husband of 67 years, Don McCoy and daughter-in-law Teri McCoy. She is survived by her daughter Donna Drake (Thomas) and brothers Steven McCoy (Cynthia) and Robert McCoy. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Steven, Matthew, April and Kevin McCoy, 13 great grandchildren, and her youngest sister Martha Glenn.

Madalene will be remembered for the great love and Christian legacy she gave to her family and friends throughout her life. In 1944, shortly after turning 18, she relocated to Las Vegas to be with her oldest sister Jean. Two years later she would meet the love of her life, Don McCoy, after his return from the South Pacific and World War II. Madalene was a full time mom, was active in multiple church activities and loved to travel.

She was the embodiment of her favorite scripture, Proverbs 3: 5-6 “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths”.

The family would like to express its sincere gratitude to Donna McCoy Drake who provided exceptional care to her mother in the last months of her life.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30am, July 1 in the Chapel at Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, Nevada, followed immediately by interment.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Doctors Without Borders in Madalene’s name:
