Lucia Batstone Arnold, 72, entered her new home in Heaven on December 20, 2019. She was born in Columbia, South Carolina on May 24, 1947 and was adopted as an infant by John K. and Sarah P. Batstone of Clearwater, Florida.
Lucia attended elementary and Junior High Schools in Clearwater, Florida and graduated from Clearwater High School in 1965. She was a graduate of Florida Southern College and began teaching school after graduation. She taught various levels of mathematics for 36 years in Pinellas County Schools. Upon her retirement in 2006, Lucia and her husband, Keith, moved from Florida to Montrose, Colorado.
Lucia was an educator at heart. She was kind to everyone and always had time to answer a question or solve a problem, no matter how large or how small. She was skilled at sewing and crocheting and made innumerable articles of doll clothing and outfits for her family and friends. She created hand crocheted bead necklaces which she sold at the Montrose Farmer’s Market. She is dearly missed by her loved ones who celebrate the fact that she is at peace with her Creator.
Lucia was preceded in death by her father, John K. Batstone; her mother, Sarah P. Batstone; her sister Susan Fernandez and brother; John K. Batstone, Jr. (Jack).
Lucia is survived by her husband of 46 years, Keith Arnold, Sr.; daughter Lisa Rovezzi of Oxford, Massachusetts; daughter Kristie MacGregor of Montrose, Colorado; daughter Kimberly Arnold of St. Petersburg, Florida; son, Keith Arnold, Jr. of the mission field in Mexico; sister, Ann Sorrenti of Tallahassee, Florida; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Lucia requested that no service be held in her honor. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to The Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601, or at alz.org.
